Tesco collection process

How does the Tesco food collection process work?

Here is how OLIO and Tesco systems communicate with each other during the food collection process:

In Scenario 1 the store has confirmed there is food available to collect and there is a Food Waste Hero assigned to that collection slot. OLIO’s system automatically recognises this and confirms with the store that a Food Waste Hero will be collecting. A message is then immediately sent in the group chat informing the Food Waste Hero that there is food available to collect.

Note: As soon as OLIO receives a donation offer from Tesco, OLIO's system automatically confirms to the Tesco store that a FWH will come to collect, whenever there's a FWH assigned to the collection. OLIO will also automatically accept the donation offer even if the FWH assigned hasn't sent a message in the group chat confirming they're ready to collect.

In Scenario 2 the store has confirmed there is food available to collect and there is no Food Waste Hero assigned to that collection slot. OLIO’s system automatically recognises this and tells the store that nobody will be collecting.

In Scenario 3 the store has said that there is no food available to collect and there is a Food Waste Hero assigned to that collection slot. OLIO’s system automatically sends a message to the group chat informing the Food Waste Hero that no collection will be taking place.

In Scenario 4 the store has said that there is no food available to collect and there is no Food Waste Hero assigned to that collection slot. No action is taken.

Please note that if no message is sent in the group chat but there is a Food Waste Hero assigned to that collection, then the store hasn’t let OLIO know if there is food available to collect or not. When this occurs, we do not recommend attending the collection. More information here
