Trouble claiming a collection
Why can't I claim a collection slot that is available on the Volunteer Hub?
There are three reasons why you might not be able to claim a collection slot even if it is available on the Volunteer Hub.
- You have not yet completed the online training and inductions. You will be able to see the relevant training modules on the 'Claim a collection' page (beneath the slot’s details), or by visiting the inductions page on the Volunteer Hub. Once you have completed all the required modules, you will be able to claim the slot.
- You are trying to claim more collections slots than you can have, based on the area you’re based in, or based on the business. In order to claim an additional slot, you will need to unassign yourself from one of your slots. Please note it might take up to 24 hours before the slot is not registered against your name anymore, depending on the time you unassign and the time of your last collection. If you are a Squad Captain, you can claim up to 3 ongoing collection slots.
- You have not had a collection before and are trying to claim a temporary/one-off slot within 72 hours of the start date. Currrently, new FWHs cannot claim a cover collection unless there is more than 72 hours until the first collection. This is to allow enough time for you to complete the relevant training and onboarding before the collection.
