How to list your products on OLIO

You must be prepared to list any allergens present in your product and any that are often present in your household on request. A list of common allergens can be found below.

Understand the risks

14 Common allergens that must be declared if present in your product or even if typically present in your kitchen:

🌿 Celery

🌾 Cereals containing gluten

🦀 Crustaceans

🥚 Eggs

🐟 Fish

🍞 Lupin (Flour often found in baked goods)

🥛 Milk

🐚 Molluscs

🌭 Mustard

🌰 Nuts

🥜 Peanuts

🍔 Sesame seeds

🌱 Soya

🍷 Sulphur dioxide & sulphites (often found in wine)

Cross contamination

In addition to specific allergens, if it is not possible to guarantee that there will be no allergen cross-contamination, you should explain to the requester or put in the item description, 

'Made in a kitchen where allergens are present'. 

“Vegan”/ “Allergen free”/ “gluten free”/ “free from” statements

How to label your products

Labelling requirements depend on how your product is supplied to the final consumer.

“Prepacked for direct sale” - An item which has been produced, packaged and sold in the same place

  • E.g You make 20 cookies, separate into packets of 5, and list them on OLIO to be purchased

  • All allergens must be listed when asked by a customer

“Non prepacked/ Loose” -  Made to order food

  • You are making a cake to order. It’s packed in a box for the requester to collect or the requester has brought their own container/packaging

“Prepacked” - An item which has been made in advance but is not sold on the premises (e.g when posting food that is not made to order)

  • E.g You make 20 cookies, separate into packets of 5, and post the items to the buyer
